Bison, which are often also known as buffalos, are extremely strong, compact wild cattle from North America.
Bison are herd animals. At full speed they can run up to 55 kilometers per hour.
The front section of their body is covered in a thick, dark coat. At a height of more than 1.8 meters and weighing in at more than a ton, bison are trully powerful mammals with curved horns. Bison live in the prairie and feed on different types of plants. The fact that they are herbivores makes no difference to their temper. Bison are known for their aggressiveness and despite their size are surprisingly agile. Bison graze mornings and evenings and doze during the day. Just like rhinos they enjoy rolling in dust or mud. Bisons live together in herds, looking out for wolves and defending the cows and calves against approaching enemies.

Competence and Experience - these two elements have been the basis of our company since we started as a supplier to the plastic industry. Friedrich Schleich founded the company in 1935. The now famous Schleich figurines first came to life in the 1950's.
The design of the Schleich products and the creation of the required tools are done in house, thus enabling us to control the initial vital steps of creating a new product. The production itself takes place at the company`s German headquarters and in a number of production facilities in foreign countries. Our products are marketed world wide.
